    Welcoming Intercultural Neighbours Inc. was formerly known as Women’s Intercultural Network. WIN was formed in February 2010 to address recognised community needs with the aim of enhancing community cohesion while developing a framework for community development through the recognition of the value of diversity. WIN continues to base its activities on the foundations of high ethical values and human rights.

    WIN respects all people and considers all participants and volunteers equally valuable. The WIN group bases its planning, initiatives and actions on high ethical values and human rights.

    WIN’s Objectives
    • To build a cohesive and strong community based on  tolerance and harmony among local and new residents.
    • To enrich the community with the participation of    new residents, from other parts of Australia and overseas.
    • To provide a safe and inclusive environment for new residents and their families to address cultural differences and experiences.
    • To empower new residents and their families to interact confidently within the community.
    • To utilise the skills and expertise of new residents and their families to deliver programs and services for other community members.
    • To connect new residents and their families to existing programs and services in the wider community.
    • To educate the community about new residents' cultural backgrounds to make the community more open and welcoming to new residents.
    • To retain migrant and interstate workers in the region.
    • To assist the migrant community to showcase their culture and customs to the wider community.

    WIN’s Plan
    To build a community that embraces diversity
    • To hold regular meetings with participants and volunteers
    • To participate in culturally significant events run by WIN or other community organisations
    • To educate the community on cultural issues by building relationships
    • To raise awareness and play a role in advocating for migrant issues
    • To write a weekly newspaper column
    • To promote cultural diversity within schools

    To build the confidence of newcomers as they settle and integrate into the
    community
    • To provide English classes
    • To provide computer courses
    • To provide first aid training
    • To conduct information sessions
    • To provide induction programs to the local area and services
    • To assist with building employment skills and services
    To establish a profile within communities as a trusted resource for relevant
    stakeholders
    • To become an incorporated organisation
    • To secure future funding for the continuity of programs
    • To demonstrate leadership and governance
    • To operate in accordance to the constitution
    • To build the image of the organisation
    • To explore commercial opportunities


    WIN's Management Committee
